I’m Keri. I am the co-founder, PR manager, co-editor and social media strategist of Bunbury Magazine. We feature, well, think of the words ‘art and literature’. Whatever springs to mind when you think of those words, we cover. This could literally be anything but if you’re still unsure, drop us an email, we love hearing from new people as well as our returning contributors.

So, a bit about me… Well, I’m five feet tall, I have, at the last count, 32 different types of tea and I love writing. In fact, it’s really the only thing I’ve ever been any good at. Talking too, I’m really good at that.
In primary school, I was lucky enough to have been afforded the opportunity to take five exams under L.A.M.D.A (London Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts) for which I received 4 honours and a distinction. While attending this fabulous school, I developed an extreme distaste for maths because of a horrendous teacher for whom I still harbour a great dislike. You know who you are. I also learned how to fire an army helicopter, how to make a stone-age spear and a bow and arrow. I can still do this which means I would probably fare well in a zombie apocalypse.
Secondary school was awful. Just awful. However, I should say that I did have the most wonderful English teacher to whom I will always be indebted. You know who you are too.
College was mediocre. I did make some wonderful friends there who have stayed with me through thick and thin. While at college I took a GNVQ in Art and Design the qualifications for which involved; Stained glass, mask making, photography, graphic design, textiles and sculpture.
A-Levels saw me take bites out of two fresh apples, Classical Civilisation and Ancient History, as well as English Literature. This was the first time I read 1984 and I fell in love… With the book I mean.
For my undergraduate degree I took English Studies where I was given the chance to study 1984 again, but it was Creative Writing I excelled at. Excerpts from my dissertation were used for teaching purposes, so I was told. During my time on this first degree, I tried my hand at stand-up comedy and, with the help of a close friend, successfully ran two comedy events for a while. My first gig was part of the Dylan Thomas Fringe Festival. Terrifying stuff!
After a three year break from higher education I applied to do a Masters degree and was accepted. I loved every stressful second of it. My final dissertation took the form of a one hour radio play which was dystopic in nature.
Now, I am a performance poet. Sometimes people ask me what that is. I simply respond in the only way I can; It is a person who performs poetry they have written. Does what it says on the tin really. So far I have performed in Swansea in a venue called Mozart’s, the aforementioned Do The Write Thing, Verbose, Spoken Word Showcase, The Light Night Festival 2013, Transdimensional Space Goats, Stirred and Once More With Meaning.
Well that’s me. I’m off for a cup of lapsang souchong and a lie down.
